Our Story:
Reaching Moncks Corner for Christ is part of a vision Pastor Fred Richard received from God back in the 70's. Pastor Richard, who has been the Senior Pastor of Northwood Assembly in North Charleston for the past 33 years, did not think God was calling Northwood to be a “mega-church,” but he did know that God was leading Northwood to spread the Word throughout the tri-county area. The seeds were planted and the vision of building four churches was completed by August 2004, with two additional churches in Aiken, SC and Charlotte, NC. Cal Woods had been an associate pastor at Northwood Assembly for six years. In September 2003, Cal believed he had a special word from God.  In reality, God was calling him to lead the final stage of Pastor Richard’s vision, Pointe North Community Church. God continued to tug on Cal's heart. He began listening and was energized to take Moncks Corner for God's Kingdom and Glory. A core group of 24 people began meeting in January 2004 at a private home. On April 18th, this core group met for the first time at the Berkeley Intermediate School inviting the community for this informational gathering. The following week, Northwood Assembly sent a team of 57 people to Pointe North to meet on Sunday evenings from May through August. When Pointe North Community Church became a reality and held its first Sunday morning service at 10:30 am, there were 120 people in attendance. Today, we average about 800 people - men, women and children - and are excited about the hearts and souls that are and will continue to be added to the Kingdom as we enter our new facility in 2008.
